About the Item

We are delighted to offer this very rare and highly collectable original his and hers pair of Victorian mahogany framed country house club armchairs with Napoleonic blue bordered Turkey Kilim Rug upholstery which are part of a suite These are part of a suite as mentioned, I have in total six dining chairs, a chaise lounge and a pair of club armchairs, this sale is for the armchairs alone, the other pieces are listed under my other items These armchairs have a very rare upholstery which is called Turkey work, it’s a kind of Kilim rug which has been used for century’s to upholstery English country house furniture, this one is a very heavy weave which is bordered with Napoleonic blue The chairs themselves are circa 1860, solid mahogany with coil sprung bases, they have the original porcelain castors, the legs are carved in the Gillows Lancaster fashion, these really are a work of art Condition wise the timber has been cleaned waxed and polished, the upholstery is old but in fantastic condition throughout, one of the chairs has a little wear to the seat base Dimensions Height:- 88cm & 94cm Width:- 80cm & 87cm Depth:- 96.5cm & 100.5cm Seat height:- 40cm & 40cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses RH20 1DF. CONDITION Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
