Dimensions: 63W x 57D x 82H cm Made by hand, in Slovenia Sé: When Sé began in 2007, director and founder Pavlo Schtakleff had a goal – to reclaim the glamour and quality of 20th century furniture and to become a dynamic and innovative presence in the world of contemporary luxury design. Sé’s vision was to invite some of the world’s best design talent to produce collections, akin to an art gallery or a couture house, the ultimate object being to build a catalogue of highly-crafted and beautifully-finished objects, made of the finest, noble materials, by the best craftspeople in Europe. With timeless forms, a curvaceous aesthetic and a spirit of play, Sé pieces are now feted for their characterful, sculptural profiles, and their ability to captivate the senses. Since its beginnings, this European design brand has stayed true to its founding ethos and to date, Sé has created three editions from the French designer Damien Langlois-Meurinne, the Spanish-born Jaime Hayon and Slovenia-based Nika Zupanc, all of which have been highly acclaimed. Under Sé’s stewardship, each designer brings their own sensibility and character, while harnessing a personality, polish and sheer sense of finish that is undeniably Sé. All our pieces are the products of the most exacting collaborations. They are sensual, tactile and cerebral, inviting the gaze and the touch as well as engaging the mind. Headquartered in London and fabricated across Europe to the highest technical standards, Sé aims to make furniture that not only delights, but that will also become tomorrow’s heirlooms. COLLECTION IV Collection IV created with designer Ini Archibong, continues and extends Sé's founding principles of producing furniture that is sumptuous and sculptural, restrained yet expressive, and made to last from the finest noble materials such as bronze and marble. Equally this partnership reflects Sé's passion for working with emerging designers who share its principles and aesthetic tendencies: the intention being to produce characterful heirloom pieces of exceptional finish. Entitled Below the Heavens: a reference to the threshold between earth and heaven; in historical lore, a place of serenity, beauty and celestial perfection and for Archibong a place he feels encompasses the spirit of Sé; a spirit of sensual beauty and sensitive fragility. It was important that Sé and Archibong understood each other before embarking on the design process. “It’s been four years since Collection III but we wanted to wait for the right designer,” said Sé co-founder Pavlo Schtakleff. “To me, Sé occupies a special place in the spectrum of luxury furniture,” added Archibong. “This collaboration feels like a perfect fit and it’s an honour to be invited to create the fourth collection.” Archibong not only shared with Sé a sensibility of understated luxury, but also a fascination with materials and production methods – two vital pillars of Sé’s methodology. To inform Below the Heavens, Schtakleff and Archibong took to the road, visiting Sé’s hand-picked European manufacturers and researching the noble materials that are part of the company’s principles. Educated in luxury design and craftsmanship and with a truly global background, Los Angeles-raised Archibong found many things in common with Schtakleff and Sé. Their journeys are now feeding into the development of the collection, reigniting the essence of Sé and generating new materials and ideas that will help map the future of luxury furniture. Archibong’s recent work has shown a great interest in both form and materials, using glass, marble and brass to express themes drawn from mythology and spirituality and Below the Heavens is the largest undertaking of his career so far. “My aim is to push Sé's fascination for exploring noble and new materials even further, and use them with simple silhouettes and decorative elements to create a memorable collection.” An instinctive choice for Sé, Archibong’s work builds upon Sé’s three previous milestone collections with Damien Langlois-Meurinne, Jaime Hayon and Nika Zupanc respectively. “With Ini, we have found a designer who has an innate grasp of timeless luxury, a passion for investigating materials and production techniques,” says Schtakleff. “Together we will enrich Sé’s offering and make Collection IV an exciting and significant body of work in our 10th anniversary year.”

Nika Zupanc: Product and interior designer Nika Zupanc became a globally recognised name with the launch of the Lolita lamp, her first object to be produced by Moooi. Zupanc works as an independent designer who is constantly involved in fresh projects that grow out of distinctive interpretations of modern culture, contemporary design and available technological options. Her products are part of the range of distinguished design companies such as Moooi, Moroso, Nodus, Bosa, Sé, Scarlet Splendour among others. Her praised limited edition collections and installations are exhibited around the world, sometimes as part of high-end collaborations like the one with Rossana Orlandi. Along the way, Zupanc continuously produces objects under her own brand and is involved in various interior projects. Besides the Lolita lamp, Zupanc has designed a long line of signature ready-to-use pieces like 5 O’Clock Table and 5 O’Clock Chair (Moooi) or Tailored Chair (Moroso). But it is her conceptual installations that saw her evolving into an authentic global voice – I Will Buy Flowers Myself (2009) and Gone with the Wind (2010) presented a collection of objects inside blown-up doll house structures that became a hallmark of Milan Design Week. The Black Cherry lamp, now one of the iconic pieces of her own brand, also debuted at Milan Design Week. The installations that followed, Selfdiscipline (2011) and Summertime (2012), mark the beginning of limited edition collections in partnership with Rossana Orlandi, where with a stubborn passion Zupanc examines the nature of furniture. In 2012, her hometown of Ljubljana had the privilege to be the first with an interior designed and art-directed by Zupanc personally. The noir refurbishment of As Aperitivo is an introduction to her new venture of designing interiors. Since emerging on the global design platform, her work has been watched closely by the international press, describing her work as everything from “punk elegance” (Elle USA) and “techno chic” (BusinessWeek) to “larger than life” (Clear magazine...
