Originally, this armchair was created for the bank of the European Industrial and Financial Union on rue Gaillon in Paris. It is made of leather with its base in varnished brushed iron. Today, the Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery is showcasing this iconic armchair. The De Pont Armchair is entirely crafted from leather, featuring a seat, a backrest, and X-shaped legs with cuffs made of varnished brushed iron. Maxime Old (1910-1991) is one of the most significant designers and interior architects of the 20th century. His work was highly appreciated and recognized from the 1930s to the 1980s. Starting in the 1960s, he became more interested in creating more comprehensive furniture, considering the overall environment.
