About the Item
Early 20th Spanish desk with lyre legs and carved edges on top
An 20th century Spanish Baroque style desk, or writing table made of solid walnut with lyre shaped legs joined by wrought iron stretchers. Hand carved decoration across the front and the back. One drawer with original iron drawer pulls, no locks or keys. Beautiful grain and nice character to the wood with some rough edges and a split on the top from the right. Waxed patina. Original iron work. Metered top and pegged construction. Finished on all four sides enabling it to be used as a centre table, sofa table, console or desk. Minor signs of restorations. Great feeling and sense of history. Born in Spain in the last decade of the 19th century, this exquisite walnut table features a rectangular planked top sitting above two drawers in the front. The table is raised on a trestle base, made of two Baroque style carved legs connected to one another through iron stretcher. The result is one of complete elegance, making this Baroque style Spanish table circa 1900 a great choice to decorate any living room or kitchen.
