George IV Mahogany Writing Table

About the Item

A fine George IV figured mahogany writing table The tooled leather top inside a mahogany band, with a double brass rimed edge, above a frieze with two brass rimmed drawers. Features panel sides in figured mahogany, resting on solid brass inlaid layer ends, with brass box toed casters. Possibly by John Mclean, Marylebone street, London. Footnote: John Mclean, Is regarded as one of the finest Regency cabinet makers in London working in the early part of the 19th century, examples of his work can be seen in the Victoria & Albert Museum, California Palace, and Saltram Hall, Devon.
