  • Carmen Mitrotta Dead Food for New World Photo Nr. 7
    By Carmen Mitrotta

The feeling of photography is very similar to that of a painting. The print is made on hahnemuhle cotton paper and then mounted on aluminum. The photo can be sold with or without a frame. Dead food for new worlds “What will we eat in the future? More precisely: what kind of food products will we eat? It is an interesting question that, although we would like to know, we are incapable of answering. I found my own answer using the enigmatic nature of my still lifes, which allows an open interpretation and creates an ideal dialogue between present and future. This project was inspired by the painting “Basket of fruit” of Caravaggio. My work in contrast does not include the fruit as trophies. They are no bloodless objects destined for the kitchen, more than this they are part of a designed space - minimal spaces. These spaces compose the products on the table and show a new culinary sensorial experimentation: Plastic, dry, alien food. The visual pleasure is more important than its taste. In an imaginary menu, I propose food with unusual combinations, a plunge into an aseptic environment, surrounded by delicate pastel colors. What catches the eye is the formal precision and attention to color.” Biography Exhibitions Group Exhibition • unseen, Art Fair, Amsterdam • 2016 Photo London, Art Fair London, UK • 2016 Art Paris , Art Fair Paris, France • 2015 Kunst 15, Art Fair Zurich, Switzerland • 2015 “Dritte Runde”, Bildhalle, Kilchberg/Zurich • 2015 Photo Basel, Basel, Switzerland, • 2015 MIA Art Fair, Milan • In 2014 “Death food for new worlds”: Gran Sasso Science Institute (Aquila), Photo Gallery (Pistoia), L’impronta (Cosenza), Sala Fenice (Trieste), Camera Doppia (Torino),VisionQuest (Genova), Polifemo Fotografia(Milan), Archivio Fotografico Italiano (GorlaMaggiore), Massenzio Arte (Rome) • 2013 Museo di arte contemporanea, Lissone • 2013 “Premiato studio Promessi sposi”, Spazio Tadini, Milan • 2013 “My generation is different”, Palazzo del Broletto, Pavia Solo exhibition 2014 “Pezzi da Museo” a cura di Roberto Mutti, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Milano 2015 “ A volte esco di casa con il cielo sotto braccio “ Gallerie Foto-Forum, Bolzano-Bozen 2015 “Dead food for new worlds”, Palazzo Leone da Perego, Legnano 2015 “Dead food for new worlds”, Galleria Bolzani, Milano 2017 Boutique Hermes...
