About the Item
Original vintage London Transport poster - It is better to return early Early in the day - to encourage passengers to avoid using the London Underground and public transport during peak rush hour times. Colorful illustration by the notable British graphic artist, printmaker and art teacher Clifford Ellis (1907-1985) and his wife Rosemary Ellis (1910-1998) featuring a busy abstract image of the legs of a child in blue shoes next to a skirt and legs of a lady in heeled shoes with a hand holding a Father Christmas and a toy and various parcels obstructing a smart suit and shoes of a man with newspapers above, the artist names on a parcel label and the stylised diagonal lettering in red above and below. Issued by London Passenger Transport Board. Excellent condition, backed on linen.
