Fred Paris Lapis Lazuli Baton Cuff Links

About the Item

Created in the late 20th century by Fred, Paris, these cuff links are composed of lapis lazuli and 18K gold. Each double link is designed as a rectangular baton bound by a ridged mount, and joined by a gently curved bar to a smaller conforming lapis baton with a swivel closure. Beautifully made with rich blue lapis, these classic Fred Paris cuff links make the most streamlined and stylish possible finish for a formal dress shirt. m #: CS-20221 Artist: Fred, Paris Circa: 1960s-1970s Size: 0.75” length x 0.25” width Materials: Lapis lazuli; 18K gold Signed: FRED, 18K, 40501, French maker’s mark. Macklowe Gallery Curators notes: The combination of lapis and gold in adornment is an ancient one, dating at least as far back as the city of Ur and the Chaldeans, circa 2500 B.C. Then, as now, the premier source of lapis lazuli is Afghanistan.
