1950's Don Loper Metallic Mocha Chiffon & Chantilly-Lace Dress
Don Loper, famously based in Hollywood, created gorgeous clothing from the 1930's into the 1960's. He designed the costumes for several films such as "The Big Combo" and "Looking for Love". In 1955 he was featured in an episode of the "I Love Lucy" show entitled – ‘The Fashion Show'. Loper was known for his lavish gowns and celebrity glamour. This breathtaking metallic-threaded mocha dress is a perfect example of his genius. The fabric is a fully-lined chantilly-lace appliqued silk-chiffon. I love the scalloped low-cut plunge hourglass nipped-waist bodice. The dramatic full circle-skirt finishes this garment off with a perfect "new look" silhouette.
