About the Item
Celebrated American fashion designer Marc Jacobs launched his eponymous brand in 1984. He served as creative designer at Louis Vuitton from 1997- 2014, and has received many prestigious awards including five CFDA awards and the 2011 Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. His seventies-inspired 2011 Spring collection featured an array of colorful printed silk halter dresses and jumpsuits paired with platforms, large flower headpieces, and chain-link shoulder bags, among other designs.
As seen as look #47 on that season’s runway, this gorgeous dress is done in a beautiful weight- draped silk jersey with a touch of lycra for some stretch. The dress begins with a V neckline and elegant three-quarter length sleeves that flow seamlessly into the short capelet overlayer at the back of the bodice. It features a colorful striped print in shades of ruby red, light pink, brown, crème, white, and coral that make the design pop visually.

Ruching down the center front and back of dress emphasizes the natural lines of the body and elevates the print, creating an inverted V shaped pattern that draws the eye upwards. The draped pleats at the center front and back of the skirt have lots of volume and move beautifully with the wearer, adding a welcome note of drama. The dress falls to a midi length several inches above the ankles in an asymmetric hem, creating a flattering columnar silhouette, and is finished with stitch detailing at the neckline and hem of the skirt and capelet.
