Sleeveless Navy Jersey Sailor Dress with Nautical Buttons – M, 1960s

About the Item

Known for her easy, swirling and practical dresses, Edith Flagg was famous for her use of polyester jersey for good reason: she was the first designer to import the fabric for fashion use in the United States. This dress’s simple trumpet cut, contrast stitching and nautical buttons allow it to transition from beach to lunch to errands while remaining polished; its easy-care fabric allows machine-washability despite looking and feeling like silk jersey. Sleeveless trumpet skirt dress with notched spread collar and white overstitching around collar and down front placket; 4 novelty-button front closure from bust to waist. Unlined. fabric: stretch polyester jersey, molded rubber noteworthy: may be gently machine washed in cool water; hang dry alterations: none condition: excellent measurements: collar: 4 ¾” at widest neckline drop: 7” shoulders: 14 ¾” from outer shoulder edge to edge bust: 38” waist: 32” hips: 39” length: 41” from shoulder, 33 ½” from underarm sweep: 51” label: Edith Flagg (California) size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size medium
