If Downton Abbey had taken place during the Belle Epoque instead of the Edwardian Era, you can bet you would have seen Lady Mary in this dress. A superb example of Victorian summer fashion and a sartorial work of art in near mint condition. Two-piece set consisting of full-length bustle dress and coordinating overskirt with variable hem. Dress features pouter pigeon bodice with high ruffled collar and tiered bracelet sleeves; ornately decorated with white embroidery, eyelets, pintucks and inset lace. Dress skirt is plain to knee, then bias cut and embroidered to match bodice from knee to hem. Detachable overskirt features the same intricate embroidery plus a variable hemline that rises from ankle length in back to knee length in front. Overskirt closes via 8 hooks and eyes in rear and attaches to dress via additional hooks and eyes at rear waistline; dress closes via 11 small buttons at back, plus 5 additional hooks and eyes at rear skirt.
