About

Breathtaking 1920's "B. Altman" metallic silk-lame evening dance dress. The ethereal pink & gold color palette touches a deep chord in our collective aesthetic consciousness. As fashion lovers, we never tire from antique fabrics; they will always be fresh to modern eyes. I adore the shimmer gold threading around the deco floral-motif patterned silk-chiffon. The bodice has a gorgeous side flower-applique and the enamel belt is masterpiece in itself. My favorite part is a asymmetric draped ombre silk-fringe that wraps around the whole garment. All that work is even more amazing when you realize the craftwork is done by hand. Making a bold and dramatic fashion statement, this could have been worn in Boardwalk Empire at the end of 1925.

This B. Altman designer antique dress is in excellent condition with no notable holes or tears. Only sign of age is slight underarm tarnish which is hard to detect when worn and one slight spot which is hidden by the belted sash. The garment closes with matching slip side metal-snaps. This piece is over 90 years old and is truly stunning.
