1940's Couture Raspberry Red Pleated Silk Strapless Pleated Back-Bustle Gown

About

A seductive raspberry-red couture hourglass evening gown from the 1940's era of glamour. This stunning silk-rayon dress has so much detail, you can tell it was made with loving devotion. The bodice is hand-pleated and hand-stitched into place with a gorgeous shelf-bust shape. This type of workmanship must have taken days to complete. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, nipped at the waist while skimming the hips. The backside is unbelievable; accordion rear skirt inset-pleats keep it flowing at every turn. The cut and construction are mirror to that of a Madame Gres but this piece is missing the designer label. It has all the hallmarks of a very expensive, custom gown. A pure work of art and a study in dressmaking technique. Measurements Bust:33-34 inches Waist:25 inches Hips:up to 37 inches Length top to waist:11 inches Length waist to hem:42 inches This custom couture gown is in excellent wearable condition with back metal-zipper which appears to be a possible replacement. Garment is boned and fully lined in matching raspberry red silk. Only note of wear is a few holes to the back pleated insert which is not noticeable when worn. This item is over 60 years old and is truly breathtaking.
