1948 Paquin Demi-Couture Watercolor Floral Print Silk Hourglass Trained Gown

About

A breathtaking watercolor floral-garden silk Paquin demi-couture gown dating back to 1948. The House of Paquin was opened on the rue de la Paix in 1890 by Jeanne Paquin. The establishment was very successful and grew to be one of the largest fashion houses in Paris, with branches in London, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. This rare garment was designed by Antonio del Castillo, who remained with the house until 1949. The bodice is an elegant sculpted plunge with slight cap-sleeves. I adore the hourglass nipped-waist and dramatic backside train. The House of Paquin helped make the 20th century a decade of artistic refinement in haute-couture and confirmed Paris as pre-eminent center of fashion. Measurements Bust:34-35 inches Waist:26 inches Hips:up to 40 inches Total Length:57 inches (not including train) This stunning Paquin Demi-Couture gown is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or stains. Perfectly working hand-set back metal zipper. The workmanship is immaculate and all hand-finished. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
