1950’s Showgirl Style Yellow Satin Beaded Fringed Dress With Wrap Coat

About the Item

This one is a showstopper starring a 1950’s wiggle dress fabricated from a heavy yellow brocade satin in an unusual tea length embellished with sparkling rhinestones, silvery seed beads, pearls and beaded fringe. The fitted bodice zips at the front with an interior support and dramatic asymmetrical point with boning creating a sculptural effect. A high slit allows for movement with a sassy view of your gams and the fringed beading creates a 'shimmy' ... picture Marilyn Monroe in Bus Stop and you have the idea. A coordinated cape style wrap tops it all off with an added bit of dramatic glamour. CONDITION At first glance, this two piece ensemble appears to be nothing short of dazzling but there are some condition issues that might make the set best suited as a costume. The dress is missing several rhinestones and some beading, please see photographs 12 and 20. The metal settings of the rhinestones have caused a dark green discoloration as shown in photograph 20. There are some discolorations on the dress as shown in photograph 15. The wrap has pulls and snags to the fabric on the inside from friction with the rhinestones as well as some discolorations, also on the inside, as shown in photographs 16, 17 and 18. There are also subtle discolorations on the outside as shown in photograph 19. Though it sounds like a laundry list, these issues are not readily obvious due to the design and overall drama. The wrap has been professionally cleaned though the dress has simply been freshened, including tightening loose beads and rhinestones.
