1970s LOUIS FERAUD Paris Cornflower Blue Pleated Chiffon Long Evening Dress

About the Item

By the 1970s The House of Louis Féraud was well established and in 1978 the couturier won the prestigious "Golden Thimble Award". This dress comes direct from a client who purchased it in and around that same time period in Munich, Germany. This is an elegant and beautiful 1970s Louis Féraud evening dress and the colour of it is a marvelous cornflower blue! The sheer impact of that vivid colour from head to toe together with the impression of dresses of the ancient Greeks is all drama. The dress is made out of a light chiffon and a masterpiece of pleat work. The vertically pleated bodice has a deep V-neck and goes down into a wide band at the waist where the pleats have been placed horizontally for a bit of visual impact. Below that the pleated skirt flares out with lots of movement. The sleeves are cut to pouf above the wide horizontally pleated cuffs and close with three fabric covered domed buttons. They are unlined so that you get a touch of transparency through the pleated chiffon. Bodice and skirt are lined with a matching coloured silky rayon. The dress closes with a center back set zipper. Labeled "Louis Féraud Paris" and tagged a German vintage size 36. Excellent vintage condition. Two atomic holes on the right sleeve that get lost in the pleats. Only mentioned for accuracy. Professionally cleaned and pressed by hand. Shoulders: 39 cm – 15.35" (from shoulder seam to shoulder seam) Bust: 80 cm – 31.49" (measured across under the arms) Waist: 60 cm – 23.62" Hips: 99 cm – 39" (lining; chiffon skirt free) Sleeve Length: 66 cm – 25.98" Length: 140 cm – 55.11" (measured from shoulder to hem) Measurements are taken flat across from side seam to side seam and then DOUBLED for bust, waist and hips.
