About
Undiminished by time, this antique garment still casts its seductive spell. An exceptional Edwardian tea-gown made of black silk-satin and fine silk-tulle netting with tight-rows of hand-beaded sequins, forming a beautiful royal-blue dotted pattern. I love the draped overlay bodice framed by the lined metallic-lace and black velvet. Each sleeve is detailed with jet-beadwork. The skirt is composed of chantilly-lace and the same black-velvet featured on the bodice. Making a bold and dramatic fashion statement, this could have been worn in Downton Abbey at the end of WWI.

Hips:Swing Sweep
Total Length:53 inches
This antique tea-dress is in excellent condition with no notable stains, holes or missing beadwork. There is a wide band of silk-grosgrain circling the waist. The closures are in the back and are quite elaborate with snaps, hook & eye on each layer. There is hand-stitching throughout. Only sign of age are a few breaks in the metallic-lace underlay bodice. I wouldn't be surprised if this creation was by a famous designer,as it has all the hallmarks of a couture piece from the Edwardian era. This piece is over 90 years old and is truly stunning.
