About the Item
This Balmain cocktail dress incorporates the house’s well known mastery of tailoring, embroidery and traditional techniques of classic couture.
Tight bodice and full skirt. Perfect tailoring on this sleeveless ballerina shaped dress that produced a perfect hour glass shape.
To emphasise the narrow waist the two sets of princess seams at each side of the bodice run from the waist to the bust and armholes, with a further two seams at the back ending at shoulder-blade height. From the neat waistband, the skirt constructed from four panels with six darts to the hip, falls into a full shape.
The silk material is intricately embroidered with gold metal and hues of blue silk threads to produce a gold scroll and pineapple motifs.
This couture finished dress fastens with a long zip running down the back from the deep V of the neckline to below the waistline.
The bodice is lined with a silk material. As a petticoat would have been worn to help to create the ballerina shape the skirt is unlined.
