About

This is a wonderful printed plaid dress from designer James Galanos. Galanos was one of the most respected and well-loved couturers in North America and counted a wide selection of Hollywood and the social elite amongst his loyal customers. This design combines the styles of the 60s with the classic elegance of couture, resulting in a wonderful and comfortable dress. The narrow straps and scoop neckline bare the collarbones and shoulders, and the plaid pattern curves in beneath the bust to accent the high waist. A single button at the neckline draws the eye upwards towards the face, while the wide black belt appears to cinch the waist and define the curves of the torso. Beneath this, the skirt falls in a volume of close pleats which almost turn the plaid to stripes. The frothy skirt is pleasingly swishy, and the bell shape increases the hourglass silhouette of the dress. Close up, the simple plaid is actually a riot of dynamic and abstract patterns, yet in monochromatic grey and black it will easy to style and a joy to wear. With this dress you can bring some wonderful sass and charming vintage style to any occasion.
