Exceptional & ultra rare Donald Brooks pinafore designer dress ensemble from the early 1970's. Brooks was perhaps one of the most important designers of the mid-twentieth century. Though he was very successful, his passion was his work for the stage and film, designing over 3500 costumes. His efforts were recognized by an Emmy Award and numerous other honors; he was also nominated three times for an Academy Award. One can surely see his love for unique design in this wonderfully constructed set. The billow-sleeve blouse is fashioned in high quality semi-sheer ivory organza which has gorgeous red, purple and green floral embroidery throughout. I love the pleated front, satin covered buttons and neck bow-tie detail. The matching wide-strap skirt nips in for a flattering waistline. The same vibrant embroidery is mirrored throughout the black velvet. The figure flattering silhouette accentuates the bust while skimming the hips in such a flirty way. The pinafore is a timeless piece which can be paired with endless possibilities. With this ensemble, you have one complete outfit or amazing separates.
