Vintage 1994 Philippe Venet Couture Black Silk Asymmetric Cut Out Bias-Cut Gown

About the Item

An ultra chic and super seductive Philippe Venet haute couture black silk sculpted cut-out gown dating back to his 1994 spring-summer runway collection. This is also a very special dress because it comes from his very last collection. Venet famously worked as an assistant to Elsa Schiaparelli from 1951 to 1953, and then worked beside Hubert de Givenchy at his couture house’s atelier through 1962, when Venet launched his own couture house. As Olivier Gabet, director of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris once said, “As Monsieur Hubert de Givenchy’s lifelong companion, he helped to build the house into an international force in fashion, and his many contributions remain an essential part of our DNA.” This dynamic dress is a fantastic example of his talent. The gown is fashioned from the highest quality black silk that has been draped to perfection. The construction reads so modern yet the divine bias cut silhoutee is a nod to classic 1930's femme fatale fashion. Just look at the gorgeous one-shoulder design which effortlessly flows into a sculpted side cut-out. This is that versatile day to night look every fashionista looks for. Measurements Bust: 34-35 inches Waist: 26-27 inches Hips: best up to 38 inches Total Length: 58 inches This 1994 Philippe Venet haute couture designer gown is in beautiful condition with no rips, stains or holes. Perfectly working original side zipper and hook closures in place. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.

  • Vintage 1970s Madame Grès Haute Couture Beaded Berry Motif Navy Sheer Silk Gown
    Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Gorgeous Madame Gres haute couture two-piece dress ensemble dating back to the mid 1970's. Madame Gres felt that the true job of the couturier was not to create a name for one's self, as many designers do, but to pay rigorous attention to the clothing. This stunning navy-blue sheer silk organza dress has so much detail, you can tell it was made with loving devotion. The bodice is a unique cap-sleeve hourglass nipped-waist design with figure flattering attached sash-belt. The sash can be wrapped around in a cummerbund style or pulled back as a waist-tie. The sparkling holly berry novelty hand-done bead work really makes this piece modern and relevant. The work itself must have taken weeks. The full swing-skirt finished this dress off with an effortless romantic vibe. Grès had an extraordinarily long career, working until the late 1980's. Through each decade, which encompassed huge changes in fashion, her work remained consistent and timeless. Any one of her elegant gowns...

Gianni Versace was an influential Italian fashion designer who founded the Versace brand. In the fall of 1997, he presented his couture collection in Paris, which was widely acclaimed for its opulent fabrics, bold prints, and intricate detailing. The collection featured several notable pieces, such as a black evening gown with a plunging neckline and a gold-encrusted jacket. However, just a few days later, on July 15th, 1997, Gianni was tragically murdered outside his Miami Beach home. Despite his untimely death, his contributions to the world of fashion continue to be celebrated, and his legacy remains an inspiration too many. This collection is iconic as it’s the final collection before his passing. The collection very much showed a new direction for the house. Which was heading away from the bombshell curves and souped-up sex appeal that the house previously focussed on. But took more Inspirations to the new wave John Galliano and Mcqueen were leading.
