Zandra Rhodes Glamour Punk Gown, Safety Pins and Diamonds

About the Item

Cocktail dress of cherry red rayon matte jersey overlaid with a micropleated chiffon overdress in a handpainted design by Zandra Rhodes. All the chiffon edges are hand overcast with hundreds of imitation pearls. The 2 dresses fall from the shoulders from a series of laced straps. A chiffon hand printed "stole" with requisite holes and tears accompanies the dress. The chiffon is printed with scissors, safety pins and diamonds for Rhodes "pretty" and "glamorous" punk interpretation. All the freeform holes and tears are similarly hand edged with delicate pearl detailing. The wearer is free to wear and style the stole to their taste. Wonderful example of Rhodes interpreting the cultural zeitgeist of the moment. Small Size 2. 1980s U.K. Excellent condition.
