Japanese Silk Watercolor Falling Leaves Kimono Jacket Dress, 1970s

Kimono is a respected and the highly decorated traditional robe from Japan. While it is common for kimono to feature delicate floral motifs, this rendition incorporates large scale falling leaves in bold, rich colors of brick red, green, and burnt umber on a wispy field of sky blue and ivory. A loose draped fit adds movement to the print. On the interior, a warm cherry blossom print in vibrant tones of turquoise, vermillion, persimmon, and golden yellow decorate the sunny print.
