Vintage Matsuya Japanese Kimono Style Cotton Puffer Jacket

About the Item

This vintage men's kimono jacket is from Matsuya, a Japanese department store which has produced kimonos since the late 1800's. Classically cut with a black lined open front, the jacket is fabricated from a comfortable cotton striped cloth featuring dark blue, light blue, pale red and a yellowish beige. The sleeves are tapered at the cuffs providing a pouf at the elbows which is also enhanced by light padding throughout. The front pockets are a plus and give this jacket an easy style perfect for lounging at home or as casual outerwear. CONDITION The jacket is in good condition and has been professionally cleaned. There is a faded discoloration at the bottom seam of one sleeve and a dime size discoloration at the back of the other sleeve which could not entirely be removed by cleaning, please see photographs 10 and 11. These flaws are faint and difficult to see both due to location and fabric stripes. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Though it is a man's kimono, it is entirely appropriate for unisex wear. The size is not marked though it would best fit a man's Small to Medium and/or a woman's Medium. It is unstructured but the following measurements are provided as a guideline and were taken with jacket held closed. For visual reference, the female mannequin is a size 4.
