About the Item
I absolutely love these adorable pale pink leather vintage peep toe sling back shoes from Maud Frizon. These Miss Maud shoes have black leather roses on the heel strap and were made in France in the 1980's and were only worn a couple of times. They are marked a French size 37.5 which is approximately a US size 7.The shoes have 2 and 1/2" heels and are 3" at the widest part of the outside of the sole. The insole is 9 and 1/2 inches.
If you haven't heard of her, it might be interesting for you to know that Maud Frizon was as famous as Manolo Blahnik in the 1970's and 1980's. She started out in the 1960s as a model for Nina Ricci, Jean Patou, and André Courrèges. In those days, models had to bring their own shoes to match the clothes they would be wearing in runway shows and photo shoots. Frizon didn't like the available shoes so in 1969 she decided to create her own and opened her first boutique in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris. Brigitte Bardot was a regular customer at the boutique, and she particularly loved Frizon's high-heeled Russian boots. Maud Frizon also designed shoes for other designers including, Azzedine Alaia, Missoni and Sonia Rykiel.
