!6th Century, Carved Gilt Wood Capital

About the Item

This is a nice size capital from Italy. Normally these were top a column inside cathedrals throughout the world. It’s beautifully hand carved by an artesian out of wood. The gold gilt finished is from the original patina. It makes for a great sculpture on a coffee table chest, buffet or console as well as a sculpture on a base.
