Large Push Pull Door Handle with Sunflower Design, 20th Century
About the Item
A large push-pull door handle with raised sunflower design, made of patinated and hammered copper repoussé, probably over wood. Found in Germany, mid-20th century.
An unusual piece, which looks to be hand-crafted, in good vintage condition. Nicely made, but no maker's mark. There is age-appropriate wear including minor dents, scratches, dings and traces of cleaning paste (centre and upper left). The metal is mid-to-dark brown with some lighter coppery tones where the surface is worn. There is minor asymmetry to the outline from the hand-crafting process. On the reverse there is a fixed bolt for installation.
