About the Item

Beautiful 17th-18th century French fireback with a Saint Andrew's cross and two pillars of Hercules. Saint Andrew is said to have been martyred on a cross in this shape. The style of the fireback is Louis XIV and it is from that period. The patina of the fireback is a natural brown, which can be made black or pewter upon request.
