17th Century French Curfew

About the Item

A French curfew was a cover to extinguish and store the not yet burned wood or other fuel. In a medieval wooden house, the systematic use of the curfew was very important to prevent fire. Leaving a burning stove or fireplace unattended was very dangerous. The condition is good, and the curfew is fully functional.
