French Louis XV Period 'Arms of France' Fireback / Backsplash, 18th Century
About the Item
18th century French Louis XV period fireback with the Arms of France. A coat of arms of the House of Bourbon, an originally French royal house that became a major dynasty in Europe. The house delivered kings for Spain (Navarra), France, both Sicilies and Parma. Bourbon kings ruled France from 1589 up to the French revolution as well some short periods thereafter. The coat of arms consists of 3 fleurs de lys (lFrench Lilies), symbolizing purity and royalty and a crown, which stands for royalty. The fireback depicts also the text 'Au coeur royal' (for the royal heart).
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a black patina. It is in a good condition and does not have cracks.
