A pair of Louis XVI style French gilt bronze Lyre chenets/andirons, Signed V.B. France, Circa 1890s A fine pair of Louis XVI Neoclassical style Chenets/Andirons, Each one with finely casting the top with Acorn finial, with a fruit and flower draped lyre with medallions quiver and and arrow trophy, raised on a medallion and floret 'L' shaped pedestal with eternal flame finial to the right. Made during the Belle Époque period (1890-1914), Signed V.B. and numbered # 1322 Both chenets/andirons are in well cared for antique condition, ready to place, they will add sculptural beauty and warmth to your interior. Each andiron/chenet measures 20-Inches high x 15-Inches wide x 5-Inches deep.

    This pair of brightly silvered bronze chenets are from France (circa 1900), in the style of Louis XVI, as noted by the presence of laurel leaf festoons and pots au feu finials. They were used in well-appointed homes, not only to decorate the front of the fireplace, but to prevent burning logs from rolling onto priceless rugs, should they break free of the fire.
