About the Item
Fireplace surround in the Federal Style. American brass rail top and wire fire fender with brass ball faceted steeple top finials and wire work, New York, 1800-1820.
This piece was hand built of hammered wrought iron, hand-crafted wire and cast brass.

Fire fender is from an Estate in Coral Gables, FL.
Interesting fact: The owner of the Colonial style home was a childhood friend of President Harry Truman. Harry and Bess Truman would visit his childhood friend at the estate in Coral Gables. He may have admired these andirons in the fireplace or on a occasion admired them when they burned a fire in Florida!
