18th Century Irish Brass Register Grate Fireplace

About the Item

A late 18th c Irish brass register grate. Wrought iron front bars flanked by brass engrave cheeks and topped with brass finials. The frame engraved with classical motifs and decorated with spheres. Below the burning area a pierced and cut intricate fret with beaded edge. The back added slightly later, can be removed if desired. An historic repair to top centre as shown in images. Increasingly difficult to find and rare piece.
