18th Century Statuary Marble Rococo Mantle from George II Period, circa 1750’s

About the Item

A large antique English Rococo Statuary marble chimneypiece from the George II period. The serpentine shaped panelled frieze, beneath a moulded serpentine shelf is centred by a richly carved cartouche with C scrolls and female head. The tall, scrolling and canted console jambs decorated with acanthus ornament are supported on low foot blocks. Each section of the fireplace (two jambs, frieze and shelf) are cut from single solid blocks of marble.
