19th Century Neoclassical English Mantelpiece with Carved Eagle to Center
About the Item
A Neoclassical English pine fireplace. The frieze with well carved eagle centrepiece, juxtaposed by stop flutes and panels. Vitruvian scrolls running beneath. The jambs with tapered fluted columns surmounted by Doric capitals and plain end blockings. Substantial moulded breakfrount shelf with fine beading. Early 19th century.
