French Gothic 'Arms' Fireback / Backsplash, 16th - 17th Century
About the Item
16th - 17th Century fireback with a Gothic decoration. This fireback is of the earliest forms of firebacks with Primitive forms of religious motifs and crests cast into them. The decorations are made by pressing rope into a sand mould and casting the iron in the mould.
The fireback has a natural brown patina and can be made black / pewter upon request at no extra cost. The fireback is in a good condition and fit for use in the fireplace or as backsplash.
