Large Georgian Period English York Stone Fireplace

About the Item

A large scale original late 18th/early 19th century Georgian English York stone fireplace circa 1800. Carved by hand into York stone, this antique fire surround is a timeless addition to any interior traditional or modern, its simple lines and narrow depth giving it a simple, streamline architectural appeal to suit a wide variety of settings. The sandstone has a beautiful natural colour typical of the finely grained York variety, with light weathering from over more than 220 years of use that instils it with an appealing timeworn patina. It is a simple yet striking antique fire surround, ideal for placement in a main room of a property.
