About the Item

An original and rare Scottish probably (Carron of Falkirk) Georgian Cast Iron fireplace insert of favourable proportions in the British Rococo manner. A generous outer plate with high relief folate and floral embellishment throughout, centred by a folate cartouche. Two full height inner returns with further high relief vertical folate tendrils. Scottish, Edinburgh 1800c Insert opening sizes with inner returns removed: 810mm high x 625mm wide. With inner returns in place: 810mm high x 485mm wide.
