Pair of Chinese Cloud Garden Seats
About the Item
These drum-form garden seats were a fixture of the Qing dynasty garden, used as a multipurpose space to rest one's feet or serve tea. These ceramic garden stools feature convex sides encircled by billowing clouds enveloped in a vibrant turquoise glaze finish. The glassy, blue-green glaze drips down their sides with irregular movement, lingering beautifully within the contours of the low relief cloud pattern. The top of the seats is perforated with a coin motif, an ancient symbol of good fortune and prosperity. Ideal indoors or out, these seats would be a lovely addition to any garden, terrace, or sunroom.
