About the Item

Lovely sculptural Hollywood Regency Trompe L'Oeil draped wicker weave rattan ghost sofa with arms. A great piece loveseat which is perfect for two. This sought after draped piece is a cult favorite amongst design aficionados. The piece is woven of tight wicker or rattan (some often mistakenly refer to this as woven bamboo). Remnicent of a woven basket, it is created to resemble draped fabric, and some say it gives the illusion of a ghost. The bottom of the sofa features a fluid curved ruffled look and the illusion of draped fabric. The back is rounded and slopes down to two curved arms which curl outward. The seat is rectangular in form and can be used with or without a cushion. Sofas of this design are quite difficult to find and are extremely rare. Created in the manner of Michael Taylor or Eero Aarnio. How We Would Style It: Pair this rattan couch with one of our other trompe l'oeil pieces available such as our Trompe L'Oeil table or two side chairs. This beauty would look fabulous on a patio or front porch, or in a living room to add a touch of natural fiber. We suggest having a cushion created in chinoiserie fabric such as Schumacher’s Plaisirs de la Chine or their classic Pyne Hollyhock (in blue) to give this piece a hint of classic style. Add a touch of Murano glass in blue to accent the room and bring these two pieces together and to give the room a sense of togetherness.
