English "Pitch'' Pine Carved Pedestal

About the Item

English ''pitch'' pine carved pedestal, this four sided piece has a plain top with engraved circle above a gadrooned frieze, supported by turned balusters at each corner, the square shaft has intricate and detailed carving in relief, the pedestal rests on feet with a shaped top edge and project at 45 degrees making for a sturdy foundation. The top dimension is 14.5'' x 15''. The English term ''pitch'' pine is a wood similar to what is typically referred to as heart pine in the United States.
