About the Item

Made in the very late 19th or early 20th century, this pair of carved of pine pedestals are tall and thin and painted a deep rich Verde antique bronze color. The gilding is done in the old world Italian manner of red boule and then gilding over creating a rich deep color to the gold. The pedestals would look great with flower vases or small candelabra (the diameter of the top is 8 inches). They also have built-in small casters on the base making them easy to move This pair of pedestals were originally used as candlesticks for a private church altar as can be seen by the large hole in the top for the fitting of an altar candle into and can be used in the same fashion today or as a pedestal as we purchased them.
