Chinese Glazed Pickling Pot, c. 1850

About the Item

This 19th century eight-sided glazed urn from Southern China was finely painted with auspicious animals, including a crane, representing divine communication and immortality. The monumental scale allows for fantastic detail of a multitude of natural scenes. The earthy browns and greens are at home as a grand vase or garden ornament.
