Coral Rock Moon

About the Item

Made to order keystone planter sculpture. 23” diameter 12x12” base. Inspired by coral castle, an Oolite limestone structure Created by the Latvian-American eccentric Edward Leedskalnin in the 1920’s during a time where there was No equipment to move or carve the large pieces. Coral Castle is noted for legends surrounding its creation that Claim it was built single-handedly by Leedskalnin using Reverse magnetism or supernatural abilities to move And carve numerous stones, each weighing many tons. Creating sculptural planters from this came to me as a 3am thought. If Edward did it in the 1900s, how hard Can it be today? Apparently very challenging. I chose To go with keystone, which is the bedrock found only in The Florida keys. You can no longer excavate keystone Unless a building is approved to break ground. The Second challenge was finding the fabricator who has The right CNC machine to cut spheres. Once again, the Plants guided me. A nursery run would give me the lead Where I could bring my vision to life. Tears included.
