English Wide Mouth Brass Bucket with Copper Straps from the Early 20th Century

About the Item

An English oval brass bucket with handle from the early 20th century. The rim of the brass bucket is curved on two sides with the high point securing the handle. This creates a wide shape allowing for larger items to be placed in the bucket. Buckets of this sort gained popularity in the early 19th century and were often used to hold the coal that heated English homes. The bucket features barrel straps with rivets that seem to have both a decorative role with the two colors of the metal and a technical function to provide strength and avoid deformation. This English oval brass bucket circa 1920 would make a beautiful addition to any home, as a planter, umbrella stand or simply as a decorative object. 15"W x 10"D x 12"H
