Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Giltwood Three Graces Planter
About the Item
A sensational Italian 18th century Louis XVI period giltwood plater with the three graces. The planter is raised by a triangular base with concave sides below beautiful scrolled supports. The striking three graces stand on richly carved seashells and are draped in wonderfully executed flowing fabric. They are wearing their hair down and hold on to one another while dancing below the intricately carved large seashell above. The planter above is supported by a most decorative and unique carved foliate band behind the graces. The bowl above displays a fine scrolled back and retains its original pewter fitted, removable insert.
