Midcentury Large Sculptural Willy Guhl Tilted 'Soup Cup' Saucer Planter

About the Item

An iconic 'Soup Cup' Tilted Saucer Planter by Swiss Architect Willy Guhl for Eternit. This lovely planter with decades of European patina sourced from a French estate is equally beautiful indoors or out as a stand alone sculpture. I love them on a tabletop in a conservatory or set by a gate in the corner of the garden. The design is highly versatile and complements modern or traditional decor. This authentic vintage sculptures were manufactured by Eternit, a Swiss garden furniture and object company. Ours is a large example in excellent vintage condition and has wonderful patina to the original white paint from many years of enjoyment in an established garden on a French estate. Willy Guhl (1915 – 2004) was a Swiss furniture, product and interior designer who excelled at a modern neo-functional aesthetic. He was an unconventional industrial designer who experimented with new materials and forms. His series of mid-century planters based on that early material were wonderfully modern and weather-resistant - produced by the Swiss company Eternit. Dimensions: 10.5H x 25Dia inches. Shown in a conservatory room designed by the art advisory & interiors firm Art/artefact featuring art by the Danish painter Lars Ly. Kindly note, collection of limestone balls not included, but available for purchase separately.
