Pair of English Victorian Period Ceramic Jardinieres by Minton
$8,040.70per set

About
These charming jardinieres are the work of British pottery company Minton (also known as Thomas Minton and Sons or Mintons Limited), perhaps the pre-eminent ceramicists of the English Victorian period in the 19th century. They are especially notable for the beautifully-molded lions' heads and feet which adorn the sides and bases of the jardinieres. They are bulbous in form, with a green flared rim, and each jardiniere is mounted with six yellow pilasters around its cobalt-blue ground body. Each pilaster features a lion's head, as well as rectangular panels of green decoration. There are several marks on the bases of the jardinieres, including a stamp reading 'Minton', a numbered stamp, and several other painted marks.
