About the Item
Pair, early 20th century French lion statues carved in limestone. Male lions with handsome mane are in sitting position.
The aged patina including distress to finish, wear, old lichen/stains, pitting all reflect generations of sitting outside in the elements resulting in an authentic aged appeal.
See photo of top of head revealing a hole (in each), was likely a mount for some type of rod.
Provenance: A Danish manor house on the island of Fyn.
